Azenco Outdoor and 4ocean: Earth Day 2024

Last Updated on April 23, 2024

Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on April 22nd, dedicated to supporting environmental protection and raising public awareness about pollution. This day addresses various environmental issues such as climate change, air and water pollution, and deforestation. It also serves as a call to action, encouraging individuals and communities to engage in activities that will improve our planet’s health and sustainability.

At Azenco Outdoor, we are committed to improving the well-being of our planet every day. Our ongoing partnership with 4ocean takes us a step closer to this goal. In 2023, this amazing partnership allowed us to collect 25,000 pounds (about 11339.8 kg) of debris from our oceans, and we have pledged to do the same in 2024.

Making Strides: Q1 Progress Report

This past March 18th we celebrated Global Recycling Day, which also marked the first quarter of the year. Between January and March, Azenco Outdoor removed a total of 6,874 pounds (about 3117.99 kg) of debris from four distinct locations, including Indonesia, Bali, Rio Bomo Beach, and Ijo Gading River.

This would not be possible without the great work and dedication of the 4ocean crew. Thanks to them, in only three months we achieved 27% of our pledge goal. And that is only the beginning!

Earth Day Action: A Day of Global Impact

In honor of Earth Day, 4ocean successfully conducted a clean-up event on April 15th. The event took place in three distinct locations with three different teams, with a total crew of 20 people. Their motivation was so high that in just one day, they collected as much as we did over three months, 6,481.09 pounds (about 2939.77 kg). This demonstrates how a single individual can make a significant impact.

The event took place in Denpasar, Air Kuning Beach, and Jembrana.

Bali Denpasar 1: Cleaning Up the Heart of the Island

Denpasar is the capital city of Bali, an island and province of Indonesia. Being the heart of Bali makes it an attractive tourist spot, which easily increases the number of debris that reaches the oceans. This is where team 1 conducted their clean-up, helping maintain the natural beauty of the island. Here are the details:

  • ‍👩‍👧‍👦 Crew: 6 people
  • 🍶 Plastic pounds collected: 1,774.89
  • 🗑️ Non-plastic pounds collected: 0.00

Bali Medewi: Preserving a Surfer's Paradise

Clean-up 2 took place in Medewi, a serene and underexplored spot located on the western coast of Bali, Indonesia, primarily known for its relaxing atmosphere and excellent surfing conditions.

Bali Jembrana River: Restoring a Vital Waterway

Finally, we have the Jembrana River, also locally referred to as the Ijo Gading River, which is situated in the Jembrana Regency of Bali, Indonesia. This river, while not as well-known among tourists as other attractions in Bali, plays a vital role in the region’s ecology and local lifestyle – making it the perfect spot for our clean-up event.

We are now 53% closer to our 25,000-pound goal, and this would not be possible without those individuals dedicating their days to help collect all this debris from our oceans. Azenco Outdoor is proud to be partners with such an incredible organization.
